Privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Fly by Night doesn't collect any data about you. Nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere.
What the app uses, on your device
- Location. Your heading turns the compass. Your position finds the airports nearest you and works out how far out you are, and your GPS altitude and groundspeed work out the descent. The app only uses your location while it's open, and never stores it or sends it off your device.
- Motion, on Apple Watch. The G meter reads the watch's accelerometer to show the load you're pulling and the highest and lowest it has seen. That stays on the watch.
- Your settings. The airport, runway, traffic direction and night or day mode you pick are saved on your device so they're still there next time.
Between your iPhone and Apple Watch
If you use both, the airport, runway and traffic direction you pick are passed between them by Apple's own watch connection, directly between your devices. Your watch face complications read the same settings from storage on the watch. None of it goes to the developer or anyone else.
What the app doesn't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking, and no third-party code that does any of those.
- No internet connection. The airport data is built into the app.
Crash reports from Apple
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may pass along anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. That's controlled by you and covered by Apple's privacy policy; it doesn't identify you to the developer.
Children
Fly by Night isn't directed at children, and it collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
